Mother Goose is a timeless, classic pantomime story and morality tale that we are thrilled to have reimagined for contemporary audiences; lovingly infused with all the signature Tom Whalley Pantomimes magic that consistently delights audiences worldwide and earns the trust of theatre companies year after year. Our twenty-fourth pantomime script follows in the footsteps of the premiere production titled 'Harlequin and Mother Goose, or The Golden Egg' (catchy!) at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in 1806. The production starred renowned clown Joseph Grimaldi (pictured below) and elevated the role of the pantomime Dame to the starring role.

The story itself is distinct from the popular Mother Goose nursery rhymes and focuses on a virtuous Dame who is tempted by a vain demon to sacrifice her kindness for wealth and her best friend Priscilla the Goose for beauty.

This strong moral message separates Mother Goose from other pantomimes. Similarly, where the Dame is often the title character's long suffering mother, here the story is uniquely hers and as such Mother Goose is often considered the 'Hamlet' of Dames and a bucket list role for seasoned 'be-frocked' performers!

Our brand-new MOTHER GOOSE pantomime script tells the age-old story in our inimitable, hilarious fashion but also updates certain elements to give the story a more modern flavour and sprinkle in a handful of delightful twists; all the while preserving the magic of the classic tale.

With eleven speaking roles, the script is perfect for medium sized groups.

The evil demon 'Foie Gras' desires nothing more than to bring mankind to its knees. All he needs to succeed is to turn a pure human soul to a life of greed and sin. Meanwhile, Mother Goose and her son Silly Billy are down on their luck. Practically penniless with only Pricilla the Goose to their name until one day, a golden spell makes them EGG-straordinarilly rich! But Mother Goose is as kind as any human could be, she'd never be tempted to turn to greed and vanity... would she?
