'Tis the Season

Updated: Oct 13, 2021

Hang your stockings ready for a Christmas with a difference.

This time of the year, theatres across the country are usually fit to bursting with excited kids, flashing toys and the parents who pretend not to love the pantomime but secretly do.

Sadly, 2020 has dealt a devastating blow to the entire theatre industry with the pantomime season being another tragic victim of the ongoing pandemic with theatres across the land switching on their ghost lights, going dark and shutting their doors indefinitely with no limelight at the end of the tunnel - but as the old adage goes, the show must go on and theatre, both amateur and professional, will be back bigger and better than ever before and all of us, all of you and all of your audiences cannot wait for the curtain to rise again.

So while each and every one of us are looking forward to the time our theatre groups can all come back together to do what we all love, we're taking some time (with a LARGE glass of sherry) this festive season to look back on the pantomime seasons gone by; grateful and proud to be a part of perhaps the most unique and wonderful of British traditions knowing that pantomime will be back.

Oh yes it will!

Until then, from everyone at Tom Whalley Pantomimes, we wish you a merry and safe Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2021.
